I want to utilize the powers of social networking for a moment to introduce y’all to my favorite blog ever.
I am a huge fan of Post Secret. If you don’t know what this is, check out their website or buy one of their books. It’s basically just a way to tell someone whatever it is you’ve been bottling up inside, especially if it’s so dark or embarrassing that you don’t exactly want to share it with friends over coffee.
Being such a fan, I was really excited when I discovered the blog/website Dear Meat. It is kind of like Post Secret but instead of postcards, it is based on anonymous letters. They are so fun to read and, because they are anonymous, it sort of feels like connecting with complete strangers!
So, I’ve sent in my fair share of submissions, some accepted, some rejected. The other week I sent one just to tell the website creator how much I love the blog and what a neat concept I think it is.
Much to my dismay, this was the letter I received in return:
I apologize for the lack of posts, as of late. Unfortunately, not many are interested in submitting letters, anymore. I’m not quite sure why. I used to get hundreds of submissions each day, and now I’ve gone down to a seldom few over the course of weeks. I had always hoped this website would be a way to help others through the art of letter writing, but perhaps people have moved on to using better crafts.
I will continue to update when I can; thank you for your support.
I was distraught! Then I thought, I can’t let this happen! I cannot allow my favorite Sunday morning entertainment to fade away into nothingness! No other website can satisfy the way this one does (and it goes so perfectly with a mug of tea and warm blanket)!
Therefore, my appeal to you, dear readers, is this: check out the blog. Send in submissions. Bring Dear Meat a new life and bring me more enthralling letters to waste my time reading!
If you still aren’t convinced that you should help me on my quest, you can read one of my all time favorite letters some lovely stranger sent in here.
Why, yes, it is about Doctor Who.
Until next time!
PS – Autumn is officially upon us! Here was my view of the pretty side of campus this morning.
